Is the pool heated?

Hippo is an indoor facility, where we keep our pool at 87℉ and the rest of our facility and viewing area at 75℉.

Do you offer a free trial class?

Unfortunately we do not offer free trials, however all new swimmers are able to schedule a one time drop in 1:1 private lesson $65 or 1:2 semi private lesson $56 to see if the swimmer likes the program before signing up for one of our sessions. You have the option to do a half hour or an one hour drop in class. It is a one time commitment to see if this program is right for you or your child.

How can I schedule my first class?

You are welcome to submit an application on our website through the “Enroll Now” button, and we will call you to schedule your first class. You are also welcome to email us or stop by to schedule your first drop in lesson or the full session.

Why should I enroll my child or myself into a private 1:1 class?

A private 1:1 swimming class allows our instructors to use our curriculum and individualize each lesson to you or your child. The pace and goals of the lesson will be determined by the swimmer, which will allow for the most efficient and enjoyable learning process.

How many times a week should my child attend classes?

We have created a schedule that is convenient for busy families. It is possible to attend as few as one class per week or as many as seven per week. The most effective way to help your child learn to swim is through consistency and repetition. We recommend your child attend multiple classes each week and select one-hour classes to help speed up their learning process. Once your child is comfortable in the water and masters our beginner level, once or twice a week would be more appropriate.

How can I schedule my classes with a specific instructor?

You have two options when choosing a class, you can choose the day and time of each class which comes out to $56 per 30 minute private 1:1 class, or you are able to choose the day, time and instructor which comes out to $61 per 30 minute private 1:1 class

Is my instructor experienced?

All of our instructors go through our training program where they are specifically taught our curriculum, and are able to create unique lesson plans designed specifically for each swimmer.

What happens if I need to miss one of my classes?

All cancellations of a class must be given 48 hours prior notice. If you or your child are sick, please email us at makeup@hipposwim.com as soon as possible.

Do I need to pay the registration fee if I am a returning student?

Each swimmer, new or returning, needs to pay a $50 registration fee every year. The registration fee is valid until the end of the year 2023 (unless paid in December of 2023, will rollover until the end of next year).

What should I bring to my swim lesson?

Each swimmer should come prepared with a swimsuit (no street clothes), a towel, goggles and a cap. A cap is optional, although recommended especially for swimmers with longer hair. Caps and goggles can be purchased at our facility.

How long will it take my child to learn how to swim?

This depends on a few factors such as how many lessons the swimmer attends weekly, as well as the swimmer’s ability to understand and engage with the lesson.

What is the best age for my child to take swimming lessons?

The best age for a child to take swimming lessons is 2-3 years old, however, age is not important as long as the child is comfortable with water and can try a class with an instructor with the parent watching from the viewing area.
